The legionnaire in Alpen aan den Rijn
This splendid legionnaire that was cut by Merwestaal can be seen near to Archeon in Alphen aan den Rijn. Archeon is part of the Archeon Museum Park Foundation and aims to protect the tangible and non-tangible heritage of the Netherlands and to present and expand this so that everyone can experience the history of the Netherlands from the Mesolithic period to the Middle Ages. This artwork in the form of a Roman soldier is a symbol of the Netherlands’ Roman past and was entirely cut from 30 mm Cor-Ten steel using the latest plasma cutting techniques.
