Veessen inlet valves

Merwestaal has delivered a project in conjunction with a large Belgian steel firm to protect against high water. The inlet valve system ensures that a large meadow area can be controlled underwater which keeps the water in the IJssel river at the right level. The construction consists of 60 valves along an 800-metre section and has a height of almost 10 metres. It is all powered by so-called power packs which ensure that the system can be fully opened within 12 hours. For more information, see: http://www.ijsselweide.com.
